The Peace Palace is the most photographed building in The Hague. Here the International Court of Justice, the only judicial body of the United Nations outside New York, and the Permanent Court of Arbitration.

Next to the entrance to the Peace Palace is the eternal peace flame. On the monument is the inscription: “May All beings find peace”. The monument is since 2004 surrounded by the world Vredespad, consisting of an edge of 196 stones and pebbles from 196 countries. Some stones are special: There is a stone from the Berlin Wall and a rock from the Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was trapped for years.

The visitors Centre of the Peace Palace is open from Tuesday until Sunday. During the summer months, the opening hours are from 10 am to 5 pm. During the winter period (from November to March 22nd) There are adapted opening hours. The Peace Palace itself is especially open to the public on some days in summer and around the turn of the year. A tour through the large and small courtroom, the galleries and the Japanese room gives you an impression of the most beautiful spaces in the building.
